L., 1 BEDROOM CONDO | SOUTH BOSTON, MA

”My closet is now an oasis, I can actually find all my clothes! My apartment feels cleaner and less cluttered.”

L.’s biggest problems were that she had too much stuff, and she doesn’t do enough “cleaning out.” In a one-bedroom condo with a dog, space is key, but she felt as if she ran out of it. We spent time going through her items– mostly clothes– to make sure that she still liked everything that was taking up space in her closet. Once we got rid of 8 contractor bags of clothes, she felt “like she lost 10 pounds!”

L.’s Stats:

  • Hours: 4.5

  • Days: 1

  • Bags to Goodwill: 8

  • Rooms/Spaces: 4 (closet, bedroom, bathroom, entryway)

  • General feelings around space before PA (1 debilitating anxiety >> 10 bliss): 7

  • General feelings around space after PA (1 debilitating anxiety >> 10 bliss): 10

what we did:

BEDROOM + CLOSET

  • Clothes, Shoes, Accessories

    • Touched every item of clothing, shoes, + accessories and decided whether to keep, donate, or toss

    • Relocated sweaters + sweatshirts to closet

    • Reduced drawer space from 2 sets of drawers to only 1

    • Strategized what systems to use in the closet + dresser

    • Closet

      • Bins on shelf to group accessories

      • Hung everything back up

      • Grouped by kind of clothing, then ordered by color within

      • Flipped hangers backwards so it’s easier to see what’s been worn

    • Dresser

      • Grouped clothes more strategically

    • Cabinet

      • Placed swimsuits + cover-ups in a place that was more low-touch

  • Discussed solutions to make her Peloton/workout area less of an eyesore

    • Utility cart to the rescue!

    • “It’s like I suddenly don’t hate having all that stuff in my room!”

BATHROOM

  • Strategized what systems to use for bathroom storage, which houses linens, utility items (paint, lightbulbs, etc.), and skincare/makeup

  • Grouped items more strategically for easier access
